ATTRACTIONS:

LINCOLN COUNTY MUSEUM The former Borden Milk Plant has been renovated into a Museum and Civic Center. The history portion spans from early Indian artifacts and fossil collections through the modern days at the historic Lincoln County Fair harness racing. The agriculture portion features the evolution of farming from the forked stick through the many implement featuring the wheel. Your tour through this complex will provide an enjoyable "fall back in time" that will keep you talking for months. For its significance to the community, the plant was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1988. While in Fayetteville, the Association suggests a self-guided walking/driving tour listed in their brochure. Space and missile exhibit.

FLINTVILLE FISH HATCHERY began operations in 1933 as part of the Works Progress Administration. The Federal Government operated the facility until the State of Tennessee took control in 1942. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency currently operates Flintville Hatchery to produce rainbow trout. Rainbow trout eggs are hatched and raised to catchable size, approximately 10-12 inches. These trout are stocked in 48 streams and lakes in 48 Tennessee counties. The hatchery is funded by license sales and federal excise taxes on fishing equipment. Historic buildings and structures place Flintville Hatchery on the National Register of Historic Places. The Hatchery is located in Lincoln County off of highway 64. HISTORIC DOWNTOWN FAYETTEVILLE & WALKING TOUR The city square in Fayetteville has a rich history as a marketplace. Today, stores on the square include clothiers, jewelers, gift stores, a hardware store crammed full with unique items from the past and present, delis, an old-fashioned movie theater and numerous antique stores filled with vintage treasures. Sir's Fabrics, located off the northeast side of the square, is the South's largest discount fabric and upholstery store. Dragonfly Gallery and Design is a new art gallery, featuring the works of local and regional artists at 125 S. Main.

HISTORIC HOMES WALKING TOUR ON MULBERRY & ELK AVENUES Fayetteville is home to many beautiful historic houses, like the old Goodrich house at the corner of South Elk Avenue and Maple Street. Many more are located on Mulberry Avenue and Washington Street. Throughout the area are several bed & breakfast accommodations in grand mansions, including the Old Cowan Plantation & the Bagley House. Take the walking tour to appreciate these homes.

STONE BRIDGE PARK & VISITOR'S CENTER Our Log Cabin Visitor's Center serves as a welcome to Fayetteville and a tribute to the history of Lincoln County. It is located in Stone Bridge Memorial Park in Fayetteville on the Thornton-Taylor Parkway (Hwy. 64 Bypass). A replica of the uniquely engineered Old Stone Bridge, which spanned the Elk River from 1861-1969, and the Lancaster Cabin, circa 1791, are focal points of the park. Walk the trail to Father's Memorial Park and take in the beautiful view of the Elk River.

SCENIC ELK RIVER CANOEING, CAMPING & TROUT FISHING Spend the day fishing for trout and bass, or take a relaxing canoe ride on the sparkling waters of the Elk River, which divides the county almost in half and feeds numerous tributaries. The Elk is a class one river, making it ideal for novice canoers and families.

ELK RIVER CANOES Come float with us on the beautiful and scenic Elk River in South Central Tennessee. Float for a few hours, a day, or several days.
