sctta passport 2016

Check back often for more information on the adventure across 13 great counties in Southern/Middle Tennessee. We have partnered with www.geocaching.com  on the new Discover South Central TN GeoTour.  Download the passport here and all the gps coordinates for the geotour from geocaching.com. We have hidden great caches throughout the area.  Many of our partners range from hotels, local restaurants, unique boutiques, wineries and distilleries plus many adventours spots along trails, or at historic locations.  We are taking our time putting this great geotour together to give you a glimps of all that South Central Tennessee has to offer.  You may need your hiking boots to find some of them and plan to spend time enjoying all of our great small towns while collecting your caches. Don't forget when you find them all and send us your completed passport, we will send you a special collectors trackable Discover South Central Tennessee Geocoin.   Many of the caches are hidden with our business partners and off the beaten path.  Enjoy the beautiful back roads of Tennessee while having an adventure.  We want to thank our Business Partners for helping us make this happen.

We could not do this without the support of the TN Department of Tourist Development Made in Tennesseeand 13 counties in South Central Tennessee Region (Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Giles, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Moore, Perry and Wayne).

When you are out on your adventure we would love for you to visit our Business Partners and thank them for participating on the Discover South Central TN GeoTour.  Don't forget to bring your passport in and when you spend the night or eat a meal or even purchase a gift with them you earn extra points.  Here is a little information on them.

Jack Trail Geocache imageWelcome to the Jack Trail GeoTour, a tourism initiative created in partnership with Tennessee Tourism, the South Central Tennessee Tourism Association, Geocaching.com and the local community and Chambers of commerce, which uses the game of Geocaching to encourage geotourism in Middle Tennessee.

Geocaching is a free real-world outdoor treasure hunt. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using a smartphone or GPS and can then share their experiences online. This large community often travels long distances to hunt desirable geocaches, especially those along GeoTours.

GeoTours are a series of geocaches engagingly tied together by a common theme, such as the history of a given area or region. There is no fixed itinerary, like on a traditional trail, but rather a series of points of interest in a self-guided, goal-oriented plan.

The official Jack Trail GeoTour Passport functions as a logbook for you to track your progress as you hunt specially placed geocaches along the tour. This passport lets you record “code words” in the geocaches you find in order to qualify for the Jack Trail GeoTour geocoins.

The Jack Trail Geocoin is a special coin created to reward cachers who complete the GeoTour, by collecting points for finding these specific geocaches and eating and lodging with our Trail Partners. Each Geocoin is trackable on www.geocaching.com.
